Data Plane

The data plane is the execution layer that processes API requests. It handles chat completions, audio generation, and transcription through a canonical path that includes:

  • Authentication — API key verification
  • Routing — Selecting the best available provider account
  • Execution — Calling the upstream provider
  • Metering — Recording usage metrics
  • Quota enforcement — Checking workspace limits

Product API vs User App

Both the Product API (/v1/*) and the User App (/me/v1/*) use the same data plane. The User App is a BFF (Backend-For-Frontend) that authenticates with cookies and resolves an internal API key, then calls the same canonical execution path.

This means:

  • Same routing semantics
  • Same quota and metering
  • Same conversation behavior
  • Same provider errors
